History:

Garland Christian Academy was founded in Garland, Texas in 1971 after Lavon Drive Baptist Church voted to sponsor a private Christian school. The leadership and congregation of Lavon Drive believed then, and still believe, that a dedicated, separated, private Christian school could provide an effective, Christ-centered alternative to the secular education offered in public schools. GCA held its first class in August of 1972 with 136 students enrolled. The academy originally offered classes for kindergarten through grade six but, in the years following, expanded to offer grades seven through twelve. Today, GCA has an enrollment of 351 and offers Pre-K 4 and 5 and honors courses for the high school as well as numerous extracurricular programs including all major sports, band, art, and choir.
