The kindergarten program of Garland Christian Academy is designed to provide a warm, welcoming environment in which students take their first steps toward group education and socialization. Our skilled, caring teachers help students absorb the fundamental principles of the English language, mathematics, and the Bible. Language instruction consists primarily of phonics practice to develop word recognition, spelling, vocabulary, and reading proficiency. The mathematics program focuses on number recognition, counting, telling time, and simple addition and subtraction. While biblical truth is an essential ingredient of all studies, we also devote time to the study of scripture in and of itself. During this time, students sing simple hymns and choruses, listen to Bible stories, and memorize Bible verses. In all areas of study, pupils are given ample opportunity to express themselves and develop fine motor skills through the use of modeling clay, coloring, and painting.
