Come by Garland Christian Academy's library just to look, choose a book or both! Resources available for our patrons include research materials, videos, DVDs, periodicals, filtered internet and thousands of books. Students in K-4 through 12th grade, faculty, and parents are all invited to use our library and its resources.
Students in K-4 and K-5 classes come to the library each week to hear one or more of our most beloved children's books. We hope to instill a life-long desire for reading in these young lives. Beginning with first grade, each elementary class comes weekly to select books and to learn library skills. The children are regularly introduced to new books, written by Christian as well as secular authors, in order to both encourage and inspire them. Expanding the horizons of our young readers with fiction, informational books and biographies of heroes is a primary goal of our librarians.
Secondary teachers may schedule time to bring an entire class to the library. Students may also come during the school day with a pass from a teacher. Additionally, the library is available before and after school each day for everyone. Our collection provides materials for our more mature readers that will encourage them to continue reading for both pleasure and information. We also strive to provide sources for required research projects.
Our librarians, Mrs. Patrick and Mrs. McCartt, seek to assist both our teachers and parents in promoting a love of reading and the joy of discovering new information, as our children grow spiritually, physically and intellectually. Throughout the years, GCA library has received countless donations from our school and church families. These generous patrons as well as parent volunteers are a constant blessing to our library and instrumental to its development.
We encourage you to come and shop at our annual book fair. Parents may wish to stop by at their convenience to check out books for their elementary children for the reading contest or even find a book or two to read themselves. Come "check us out"!
