GRADE 6

BIble
This study presents Jesus Christ as the unique Son of God who came to this earth as both God and man. The course moves from the preincarnate Christ of eternity to the birth, life, ministry, death, resurrection and ascension of Christ as recorded in the Gospels. The course focuses primarily on the Gospel of John, but the study encompasses all four Gospels and their accounts of Jesus’ words and deeds.
ENGLISH
This course includes further instruction in reading and analyzing literature and poetry as well as a more detailed exploration of the parts of speech (including diagramming sentences) and punctuation.
MATH
Mathematics includes instruction in basic math functions and the introduction of algebraic processes (solving for variables, algebraic addition) as well as positive/negative numbers. The course requires students to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals. Additionally, mathematics incorporates a foundational exploration of geometric shapes, mass, weight, volume, and measurement.
SCIENCE
The grade six science course includes instruction in the proper biblical approach to science, which identifies God as the Master Designer and Creator of the universe. Science helps students develop an appreciation and respect for God’s world and for the universe as His direct creation.
WORLD HISTORY
This course is designed to give students a foundational understanding of the ancient cultures and events that shaped our world.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Physical Education offers not only a wide range of opportunities to participate in individual and team athletics, but also educates students regarding the science and practicalities of maintaining personal health and fitness throughout their lives.
ART
Building upon the foundational knowledge of art gained in elementary school, Middle School art expands its focus to include graphic design, sculpture, and print making and introduces students to intermediate techniques for familiar media. Beyond engaging the new media and learning new techniques, students are expected to demonstrate an age-appropriate skill level and understanding of art. Middle School art includes three to five art shows per year as well as the opportunity to enter numerous competitions.
BAND
The purpose of GCA’s instrumental music education program is the glorification of our Lord through the gift of music, which He created and gave to us to enjoy. We aim to achieve that purpose by helping students enjoy learning to play their instruments and instilling in students the desire to use their talents to glorify God for the rest of their lives.
CHOIR
This course is designed to produce in Christian young people the skills, knowledge, and character needed to worship the Lord Jesus Christ through His gift of music.
LATIN
Latin provides students with an introduction to basic nouns and verbs, an expanded Latin vocabulary, and the role of Latin as a precursor language for English.
STUDY HALL
Study Hall provides students with an opportunity to catch up on their work or receive tutoring.

 

GRADE 7

BIble
This study of “Wisdom in Proverbs” will present concepts that are applicable to the lives of students. Each lesson uses life applications so that students can learn specific applications of Bible truths.
ENGLISH
This course is designed to instruct student in language skill such as grammar, mechanics, and usage. These skills are emphasized to help students become more adept in both writing skills and everyday conversation.
MATH
This course provides students with a strong foundation in the key mathematics concepts and skills of middle school in order to prepare them for pre-algebra mathematics. It introduces early algebra and geometry concepts.
SCIENCE
This course includes the instruction of the origin of modern science as well as the use of the scientific method in the study of earth and biological science. Also included is an extensive science research project that spans the majority of the year.
TEXAS HISTORY
Texas history provides students with a foundational knowledge of the origin and development of the state (and former nation) of Texas. The course teaches geography and map skills as well as emphasizing contemporary issues through the discussion of current events on a weekly basis.

BIble
The Grade 8 Bible course features an instructional survey of both the Old Testament and the New Testament In both sections, the course focuses on the the major events and themes of all the books.
ENGLISH
This course is designed as a comprehensive program of language skills instruction that gives students a solid foundation for effective communication. The course stresses competence in grammar, mechanics and usage in order to help students master the foundational aspects of the English language and its usage.
pre-algebra
This course will provide students with a strong foundation in mathematical concepts and skills to prepare them for Algebra I and other high school math courses.
SCIENCE
Grade 8 science serves as an introduction to the physical sciences with its focus on the study of matter, energy, the solar system, and the natural laws that govern them.
american HISTORY
American history is a comprehensive survey of U.S. history. The course gives students a foundational knowledge of the development of our nation as well as our nation’s role in world events. In studying American history, special attention is given to the role Christianity and the Bible played in the creation and guidance of the country.
